Howdy friends! Been super busy with so many crazy things! Wanted to drop a quick update and let you all know I was still alive and kicking.
Packing my bags right now to leave tomorrow morning for the Gem & Jam Music Festival in Tucson, AZ! Very excited for this, but one of my band-mates bags was left at the airport during a connecting flight! Hope it makes it.
Anyways, I’ve been up to tons of stuff, a brief overview follows:
Needless to say, LOTS of great times, which unfortunately makes me unable to post as much as I would like on the blog. As time opens up though, expect some cool new stuff here!
Until next time, blessings & love to you and your flow.
Sorry I’ve been a tad slow on the posts lately…Lot’s of huge stuff going on for me! I will post more info soon, but for now, check out my latest launch for FanMail Marketing.
I am workin with my band on the mastering process for our new album, Bass Chakra. We are trying to get this finished up asap. The album will be released for free, via our website, www.organiccollective.net.
We are working on a few dates during the winter, and already have a few festival slots lined up for next summer.
Thanks for being patient during my post slowdown, I’ll have plenty of new stuff up soon!
Here is the 2nd installment of my musical suggestions for working. If you missed the first, be sure to check it out. I explained how music helps me get into “the flow”, that timeless space where observer and the observed disappear, while all that remain is all that there is.
After a few hours in this space, you will probably agree that its the most effective way to work, let alone most rewarding.
So enjoy, I hope this music helps bring you the enhanced creative experience it did me…

Another great video from FITC 2009, “Things I’ve Learned About Being Creative”.
Don’t forget there are tons of great videos on the FITC Media page, I’ve just been picking my favorites for you to check out.
I’m very happy to show this off. Microsoft officially launched my product, The Glider on MSN.com for the 2nd time (1st time was for Disney’s UP). Just go click the 300×250 AstroBoy advertisement.
Unfortunately, you have to view this in Internet Explorer. MSN.com has a weird thing for Firefox…but we could kinda expect that. Either way, it’s very exciting that more than 30,000,000 people are going to see a product I built in the next 24 hours!
This product uses the Papervision3D library, which is quickly becoming my favorite Actionscript toy!
I will be releasing more information on The Glider, as well as all of my Microsoft products soon. Here is another shot that gives you a bit of an idea of what the ad does!
Have you ever felt like you were just not into your work anymore? Can’t seem to come up with anything that makes you happy? Can’t even get into the projects you’re working on? Being unhappy at work, can quickly lead to being unhappy at home. It can even end up as depression.
It’s easy to get burnt out in the any creative industry. We’re required to push out amazing & unique work, every day. Often for multiple different clients at a time! Maybe you are working too much, or just not working on anything you really want to be. Perhaps you’ve been eating “fast” food, and not paying attention to your health.
All of these things (even in small quantities) can compound on top of each other and lead to real problems. If we pay attention to our routine, it’s possible to “feel it” all the time! Well, I can’t say you’ll always be “feeling it”, there’s no escaping times when you aren’t going to be happy. That’s normal. What we can do, is create a physical and mental environment that promotes creativity & contentment!
If you hate your job, you should probably start there. It’s hard to turn something you can’t stand into an amazing part of your life! Don’t be afraid. There will always be somewhere that’s a better fit for your specific personality & skillset. That’s something I learned long ago. I would find myself just totally not into my work, and as a result, feeling unhappy in my personal life. Every time this happened, I took it as a sign that the universe had something better in store for me. Sure enough, whenever I worked hard to find a new job or a new city to move to, it would always result in an increase in happiness all around. Most of the time I would get to move to some new cool city, and start a new cool job!
Jobs are always exciting if you’re doing something you want to do. Like me, I develop crazy actionscript projects most of the time, and I couldn’t imagine anything more fun! I even do it as my hobby when I’m not working. If you aren’t totally excited about what you’re doing at work, you shouldn’t be there.
Once you have a job doing something you enjoy, you merely have to keep yourself inspired. Inspiration comes from so many places. I can find it just watching my 2 year old son doing whatever he happens to be doing. I also like getting deep into nature, especially at trippy music festivals. You can find yourself surrounded by thousands of the most creative people you’ve ever met, all working together to make your experience as inspiring as possible.
Needless to say, inspiration is all around us. From the patterns in the flowers & plants, to the amazing music made by up-and-coming producers & musicians, its easy to get the creative juices flowing. Find a few things that make you want to create. I’m sure theres plenty of things out there, if you’d only look! Here’s a decent sized list of things I find inspiration in, maybe some of them will work for you!
It’s not hard to keep a balanced creative life going. Don’t overwork, enjoy what you do work on, stay inspired and healthy. Have anything that helps inspire you, or tips for not getting burnt out? Post them in the comments.
A relaxed environment is one of the most important things you need to get into the flow. What’s the flow, you ask? It’s that place you go when time disappears. You merge with whatever you are doing, and it becomes effortless. This happens for professional sports players, musicians (music was my first experience with it), programmers, anything really.
It’s the most efficient you can get. You’ve mastered your tools, made the process instinct. But you can’t force it…It’s like it’s said in the Tao Te Ching:
Look for it, and it can’t be seen.
Listen for it, and it can’t be heard.
Grasp for it, and it can’t be caught.
You have to bring it out, without forcing it. It must come of its own accord.
I have found that music is the most effective way for me to get into the flow. I turn on something that takes me on a mental journey. Put on the headphones, and get lost in my work.
The following is the first of hopefully many, musical suggestions. I have personally gotten into the deepest levels of creative-trance with these artists.

Just finished the initial launch of our blog for Organic Collective! We will be putting live mixes, videos and lots of other fun stuff up there. I’m really starting to like Wordpress! The skinning is very easy to do, and the back end is just beautiful.
Our new album “Bass Chakra” will be coming out very soon too! We are in the process of mastering it ourselves, and its our first time on our own! Can’t wait to finish it up and share it with you all!
I also finished the artwork for the album! Here is a sneak peak!
